Dadmissions: The Sibling I Can Be

Today I will take my place as the sibling I can be

We’ve come a long way since the little red house on Leo Road a brother and sister seemingly born to brawl from the start

But today I will take my place as the sibling I can be

The death of our dad when we were still kids finding our way… starting over with mom as a single-parent family wasn’t easy

But today I will take my place as the sibling I can be

Graduations… college… Boston, New York, LA… separate paths.. took us further apart.. sometimes it seemed easier that way

But today I will take my place as the sibling I can be

Glimpses along the way of what we could be.. a memorable trip to see the Dead and surprising you with Stevie Wonder… won’t forget it

But today I will take my place as the sibling I can be

Being young adults and watching our mom struggle and fight a courageous battle… losing her the toughest of all no doubt

But today I will take my place as the sibling I can be

You are charting a new path now with the sun shining bright… WE are charting a new path.. everything before has prepared you for NOW.. don’t forget it.

So today I will take my place as the sibling I can be

I will step in for our father… I will step in for our mother… I will step in to my role as brother… to walk my sister down the aisle.

Congratulations to my sister and her new husband on your wedding day and thank you for the honor of having me take part
