Dadmissions: The Carpool

It might be the first peer pressure she’s ever given in to. The 5 yr old went with the carpool kids today for the very first time. For the first week of school, i took her and waited with her at the kindergarten door.

Oh but that carpool was calling…

The big kids are there (third grade and first grade)… and they all go together. For the first week of school, I held that lunch bag and waited for the kindergarten door.

Oh but that carpool was calling…

For the first week of school, I’d give her a hug and a kiss as she dropped off her lunch bag and took her seat on the carpet.

Oh but that carpool was calling…

Today the window rolled down and they asked if she was ready for the carpool. She looked at me and she took off with a grin ear to ear. Now I am waiting by the phone for the call about a lost child, an anxious child, desperate to find her dad. Deep down

I know the call isn’t coming. She’s well on her way.
