Dadmissions: Justice For Gabriel

gabriel-fernandez2

His name is Gabriel Fernandez, an 8 year old from Palmdale, CA with a bright smile and a brighter future. His story may bring you to tears. But his story needs to be heard.

You see, we all let him down.

Paramedics were called to Gabriel’s home in May. The LA Times now says his skull was cracked, his ribs were broken, his skin was burned, he had BB gun pellets embedded in his body, and some of his teeth were knocked out. The details aren’t pretty, but then again, child abuse isn’t.

We all let him down.

Gabriel’s mother and her boyfriend now stand accused and there is now a critical review of child and family services which it appears received repeated complaints of possible abuse in Gabriel’s home.

We all let him down.

An 8 year old boy. An 8 year old boy would confide in adults on occasion that the people closest to him would shoot him in the face with BB guns or send him to school swollen with bruises. An 8 year old boy would write a suicide note one day detailing how he’d rather not be alive than live in the situation he was living in.

We all let him down.

If you see signs of child abuse or a child in distress, ask questions, report what you see, don’t stay silent. Shout it out loud until someone hears. The silence can be deadly. His name is Gabriel Fernandez, an 8 year old from Palmdale, CA with a bright smile and a brighter future. His story may bring you to tears. But his story needs to be heard.

You see, we all let him down.
Hopefully by sharing this story we can all see Justice For Gabriel
